Job Description
The Zone Department Head for Internal Medicine agrees to the following service deliverables:
- Ensure that department members are compliant with the Bylaws and Rules and regulations of the NSHA;
- Hold regular department meetings and provide the Zone Medical Executive Director with meeting minutes;
- Attend relevant committee meetings as assigned by the Medical Executive Director;
- Works with Specialty Site Leads to ensure service continuity is maintained through Department scheduling practices including but not limited to vacation requests oncall scheduling and locum utilization;
- Participate in the monitoring of standards quality and utilization of resources of the department in the zone;
- Provide Performance management for all department members;
- Provide complaint and discipline management for department members;
- Supports the research agenda within the department;
- Participate in any clinical services planning for the Zone/NSHA;
- Leads recruitment/retention for the department for the Zone;
- Ensures that new hire and onboarding processes are completed with support from the Specialty Site Lead as required;
- Participate in Leadership development.

Qualifications :
- MD (with College Certification in Internal Medicine) licensed in Nova Scotia
- Evidence of past and ongoing leadership training.
