The Childrens Home mission is to partner with children families and communities throughout New York State to inspire hope develop skills and cultivate healthy relationships for positive futures.

$17$19 per hour

Position Summary
Youth coaches help young people throughout Seneca County be successful at home in school and within the community. Youth coaches serve as mentors guides and supportive adults. Youth Coaches also assist individuals and small groups of youth make positive choices develop their strengths and gain life skills. The Youth Coach along with the 3SI Team focus on addressing issues identified by the referral source that impact the child/youth and family. Youth Coaches must be engage with people of diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. A youth coach should also possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as problem solving and critical thinking skills. The youth coaches must be able to create supportive networks for youth and families and be committed to serving as a positive role model to the youth involved in the program in school and in the community. Youth Coaches must have a valid drivers license that meets insurance liability requirements throughout employment. Youth Coaches must be able to work well as part of a team connect with a variety of youth and achieve & documented success.

Responsibilities
  • Spend time identifying the strengths and interests of the child/youth during their first 23 weeks to help build relationships and supportive networks for the youth and family
  • Provide transportation or assist with alternative transportation methods to ensure child/youth s attendance to court appearances service appointments and school activities.
  • Attend various meetings and appointments with child/youth to support the youth and advocate for their needs.
  • Provide an average of three 3 documented visits with child/youth per week.
  • Communicate with youth via various avenues; inperson virtual phone
  • Complete and submit contact forms to Parent Partner.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Parent Partner.
  • Attend required meetings with Parent Partner and/or County Director to discuss progress plans and needs of child/youth in program.
  • Identify community resources that are available and appropriate to child/youth in program.
  • Assist in accomplishing goals set by a team of providers.
  • Assist with managing emotions and behaviors in healthy ways and in various settings.
  • Assist in developing prosocial skills.
  • Assist with volunteer/ job searches interviews other tasks to be successful.
  • Conduct curfew checks via video or inperson if warranted.
  • Assist with locating students and providing transportation if the youth is not in school or at home during curfew checks if warranted.









Requirements

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelors Degree preferred
Experience
  • Previous experience with children or a lived experience in the juvenile justice child welfare or foster care system preferred
  • Drivers license and insurance throughout employment required

Previous experience with children or a 'lived experience' in the juvenile justice, child welfare, or foster care system preferred Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment required.
