We are currently recruiting a Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist to work as an integral part of the radiology team with our hospital in DublinIreland.
Responsibilities
- Execute physician orders for all assigned patients ensuring that and treatments are administered safely and correctly.
- Ensure that the patient understands the treatment procedure and any potential negative effects.
- Demonstrate the competence to assess a patients comprehension and compliance with instructions and health care education.
- Assess patients for radiation therapy side effects and implement necessary remedies within the scope of practice.
- Provides emotional support to patients and families and refers them to community and hospital support services as needed such as Medical Social Work Home Care ICS and so on.
- Completes the daily treatment plan. Keeps an accurate record of processes including billing details and codes.
- Perform similar tasks as needed.
- Provides oncall care for people in emergency situations.
- Oversees the daytoday operations of the treatment and CT units to which they are assigned.
- Assist with the daytoday operations of all departmental units as needed.
- Ensures that the daily list runs smoothly and that there is an acceptable skill mix among the RTs working on the unit.
Requirements
- Completing a formal radiation therapy technology program in an Irish/EU/AMAapproved institution.
- Have completed or begun a postgraduate study programme.
- Candidates must have at least six years of relevant postqualification experience subject to merit.
- Promotion to clinical specialist level will be based on merit and may occur at any regular annual review session provided appropriate experience has been obtained.
