Job Summary:
A Panel Designer is responsible for designing electrical control panels switchgear and related systems for industrial commercial and manufacturing applications. They create detailed electrical schematics layout drawings and bill of materials (BOMs) while ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Design electrical control panels wiring diagrams and schematics using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD Electrical EPLAN or SolidWorks Electrical).
Develop layout drawings enclosure designs and panel configurations.
Select electrical components such as circuit breakers relays PLCs and wiring to meet design requirements.
Generate bill of materials (BOM) and ensure compatibility with project specifications.
Collaborate with engineers project managers and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet functional and regulatory requirements.
Ensure designs comply with relevant codes and standards (e.g. UL 508A NEC IEC).
Provide technical support during panel assembly testing and commissioning.
Update and revise designs based on feedback project changes or customer requirements.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelors degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering Mechatronics or a related field.
Experience with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical EPLAN or SolidWorks Electrical.
Knowledge of electrical circuits power distribution and control systems.
Familiarity with industry standards such as UL NEC and IEC.
Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
Ability to read and interpret schematics wiring diagrams and technical documents.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in industrial automation or control panel design.
Handson experience in control panel assembly or troubleshooting.
Understanding of PLCs HMIs and SCADA systems.
