Job Description

Sofitel Brisbane Central Brisbanes most iconic luxury hotel is seeking a visionary and innovative Executive Chef to lead its culinary team and elevate the dining experience with refined French elegance worldclass cuisine and unparalleled hospitality.

The Executive Chef at Sofitel Brisbane Central is a key member of the senior management team and works closely with the Director of Food and Beverage General Manager and management team to achieve the highest culinary standards for the hotel.

In this role time will be spent equally across kitchen operations and administrative duties providing direct supervision to senior chefs across multiple hotel kitchens as well as support and leadership to the wider kitchen brigade.

The successful candidate will be a team player focused on delivering a luxurious style of cuisine that is best in class while displaying a consistently positive attitude and guestcentric approach.

  • Develop and implement innovative seasonal menus that showcase international cuisines while incorporating local Brisbane flavors and ingredients
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations ensuring adherence to food quality safety and hygiene standards
  • Lead mentor and inspire a team of culinary professionals fostering a collaborative and goaloriented work environment
  • Drive sustainable practices through responsible sourcing and waste reduction initiatives
  • Manage food costs inventory and supplies to optimise profitability while maintaining quality standards
  • Collaborate with the management team to enhance overall guest satisfaction and drive business growth
  • Engage with guests to gather feedback and tailor culinary experiences to meet and exceed expectations
  • Stay current with culinary trends and incorporate cuttingedge techniques into menu offerings
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations
  • Participate in menu creation and cost control initiatives to maximise kitchen efficiency and profitability
  • Represent the culinary team at various events and promotions.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive culinary experience with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role in a luxury 5 star hotel environment
  • Culinary degree from a recognised institution or equivalent professional experience
  • Exceptional culinary skills with a deep understanding of international cuisines and contemporary dining trends
  • Strong leadership organisational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to create innovative and visually appealing dishes that meet high standards of quality
  • Proficiency in menu planning food cost control and inventory management
  • Experience in managing large kitchen teams in a fastpaced environment
  • Knowledge of Australian cuisine and familiarity with local Brisbane food trends and ingredients
  • Food safety certification and thorough understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problemsolving skills and attention to detail
  • Creativity in menu development and presentation
  • Proficiency in culinary software and digital tools for inventory and cost management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
