JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Responsible for maintaining the modeling components of the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) used by Utility Operations at Entergy. The role is primarily responsible for support of the daily modeling process that builds and delivers highquality foundational data needed to operate the ADMS. The role requires an indepth understanding of Advanced Distribution Management Systems real time SCADA systems and electric distribution networks.


JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide operational support ensuring production systems and devices are online and available; this includes nonbusiness hours oncall support
  • Analyze develop and implement solutions for system enhancements; Conduct a wide range of quality control tests and analysis to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and enduser requirements
  • Provide an interface with software vendors for discussion consultation problem solving and best upgrade practices on the 3rd party systems
  • Design computer system solutions to solve complex business problems
  • Perform necessary investigation analysis and evaluation to determine project feasibility
  • Develop procedures for the solution of complex and difficult problems or systems with a high level of reliability and speed
  • Ensure the development of computer and information system plans that capitalize on the installed technology base and prudently employ new technology
  • Provide customer support and services for problem reporting service requests and inquiries
  • Provide project and vendor oversight and facilitate communications with other internal organizations including but not limited to compliance security legal and procurement
  • Conduct business analytical studies to integrate business needs into system wide development plans to ensure the System Business Unit needs are met
  • Analyze user processes and requirements to identify design and implement process improvements
  • Effectively communicate technical information concepts and ideas verbally and in writing
  • Utilize a suite of electric network modeling tools to maintain and improve inputs to an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS)
  • Review ADMS modeling validation messages and correct errors as needed
  • Perform periodic maintenance related to ADMS modeling datasets and secure missing data elements
  • Actively assist in training and mentoring efforts on the team
  • Participate in the team 24 hour oncall rotation

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position.
Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems Computer Science GIS or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree is a plus.

Minimum experience required of the position
7 years of experience designing and implementing solutions for advanced distribution management systems.

Minimum knowledge skills and abilities required of the position

  • Strong track record of relevant technology delivery; Subject Matter Expertise
  • Proficiency in the design development and testing of ADMS systems
  • Strong understanding of ADMS modeling components
  • Strong understanding of client business needs and objectives
  • Ability to work in a fast pace and dynamic environment including work outside of normal business hours
  • Ability to support realtime systems
  • Knowledge of the operation of the electric power and/or distribution systems
  • Understanding of GIS and electric distribution network topology concepts/structures
  • Knowledge of electric SCADA modeling
  • Ability to support cyber security activities such as system hardening patch management and configuration management
  • Ability to support of fraud and computer forensics research
