Job Description

Field Manager
Reports directly to the Field Director. The Field Manager shall direct oversee and be responsible for all onsite elements and functions that relate directly and indirectly to the design manufacture delivery and installation of products on projects assigned to him or her. Working as part of an established organization structure and within standard protocols and procedures by which all work undertaken is conducted. Duties and responsibilities of the Field Manager include but are not limited to the following:

Education

  • Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • Project Management Professional Certificationis an asset.

Years of Experience

  • Minimum 23 years of Field Management or Project Management experience.

Working Conditions

  • Hours: 7:00 AM 4:30 PM;
  • Work may involve some exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures dirt dust fumes smoke unpleasant odors and loud noises;
  • Work environment requires wearing PPE for all site work and in certain other locations;
  • Requires driving a company vehicle to visit sites clients or Site Supers;
  • Full Health and Safety training required (Working at Heights WHMIS);
  • Follow Health and Safety standards on site; and
  • Flexible to work overtime as required.

Required Level

  • Detail oriented with the ability to read architectural/shop drawings;
  • Experience in Curtain Wall and/or Window Wall and/or Railings and/or Cladding
  • Knowledgeable in the glazing industry and knows about products and systems (Curtain Wall/Window Wall/Railings/Cladding);
  • Full understanding of measuring on site with tools
  • Ability to work on multiple projects that are large and complex
  • Discretion judgement and tact to handle confidential information
  • Write letters memos and emails
  • Demonstrate State core values and work in a team environment;

Job Specific Duties

  • Site visits on all assigned projects
  • Schedule Startup meeting with the designated installer once assigned
  • Maintain logistics plans and coordinate OTIF deliveries (On Time & In Full)
  • Maintain client and stakeholder relationships
  • Arrange for mockup installation if required
  • Perform site measurement if necessary providing information Drafting Team
  • Participate in kickoff meeting for installation with the lead installer and engineer.
  • Take the installer for walkthrough and orientation on site
  • Schedule safety inspection Competent Supervisor form and JHA prior to first delivery
  • Schedule site orientation for the installation crew(s).
  • Ensure unloading and access are coordinated with site Installer and Shipping
  • Review all procedures with the Safety Coordinator Installer(s) and other site personnel prior to the start of window deliveries and installation;
  • Spot check or assign someone to completed deliveries to ensure accuracy
  • Follow up on all safety documentation of the Installation crew(s)
  • Provide detail review to the Site Operations Manager including but not limited to any changes required to standard installation process swing stage requirements and equipment for installation
  • Oversee the installation including workmanship and compliance of details per approved Shop Drawings
  • Maintain a chronological photo history of project development to monitor progress of installation and risk management
  • Ensure that all reports received within 2 weeks for deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner
  • Oversee all Field Coordinator duties
  • Ensure Installers are preparing ahead to prevent weather delays
  • Review and approve installers invoices and ensure paperwork is correct before submitting with full explanation of any extra costs
  • Review shop drawings and work with installers to identify any potential dry glaze/site glaze modules
  • Ensure installer has most upto date quantities and changes due to extras
  • Arrange for any equipment required to complete workswing stage the like; ensure equipment rental charges end when it is no longer needed. Ensure work is completed within the provided budget for machinery and equipment (rentals)
  • Attend site meetings and field tests
  • Ensure installation schedule is maintained. Provide recovery solutions to the PM of record when necessary
  • To review and assist other Field Managers as required
  • Identify oversize window modules and coordinate delivery with crane
  • Provide site critical dates (including crane and hoist removals)
  • Work with Field Director to ensure site logistics plan is provided prior to breakdown
  • Review procedures with the Health and Safety Team before sending out to installers and sites when required
  • Represent State as requested in business with customers consultants contractors and suppliers
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Field Director Project Manager.
