ROLE OVERVIEW

Benchling is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Data Input team one of two teams that own Benchlings widelyused Notebook product. At Benchling were on a mission to accelerate the pace of life sciences research. To do that we build a suite of tools that scientists use daily to solve humanitys most pressing problems. To achieve our mission the Data Input team exists to help our users get their crucial scientific data into our platform easier & quicker. Our goal is to streamline Data Input so scientists can focus on science. We own core product functionality like tables audits & forms which over 90 of Benchling customers use!

As a Software Engineer on this team youll help us engineer core products that get our users data into Benchling. Youll also play a crucial role in building key product initiatives that are critical to the companys success alongside peer teams across the organization. In this role youll get to work on a few critical areas of the Benchling product:

1. our Excellike tables that allow creating new scientific entities recording and publishing experiment results & more
2. our auditing system which underpins all of Benchling helping our users to understand every action that happened on our platform
3. our forms which allow scientists to design completely custom forms that enable our users to easily capture data into Benchling at the lab bench & remotely in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build largescale projects endtoend from ideation with crossfunctional partners through to rollout to endusers.
• Engineer across our stack from designing and implementing backend models & APIs to crafting rich frontend components and architecture.
• Collaborate closely with product managers designers and other teams to build the best product possible for our users.
• Create entirely netnew products while also investing in taking existing products to feature completeness.
• Be a core team member helping to shape the way we work together while also participating in technical & architectural discussions among engineers inside & outside the team.
• Help to architect a platform of Data Input components to build once and leverage many times over throughout Benchling.

QUALIFICATIONS

• You have 2 years of experience in a fulltime software engineering role.
• Build software with a productfirst approach. You ship code quickly and care about the real world impact of your code.
• Experience developing both userfacing & backend experiences in a web application.
• Experience with React or similar javascriptbased frontend application frameworks
• Experience leading & delivering projects from start to finish independently or as a part of a larger team
• Enjoy a highdegree of ownership in key areas of the software product youre building
• Are interested in learning more about life science (prior knowledge is not required; desire to learn is a must).
• Willing to work onsite in our SF office 3 days a week.

Flexible Hybrid Work: We offer a flexible hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes inoffice collaboration. Employees are expected to be onsite 3 days per week.

SALARY RANGE

Benchling takes a marketbased approach to pay. The candidates starting pay will be determined based on jobrelated skills experience qualifications interview performance and work location. For this role the base salary range is $141104 $190906.
