The Principal serves as the instructional leader of the Academy of Science and Technology working in collaboration with the college administration. This position is responsible for developing a coherent system of curriculum instruction and assessment that promotes the mission and vision of the school all while striving to create a culture of safe learning and academic excellence. Additionally the Principal is responsible for the successful management and operation of the Charter school.

Job Description

Responsibilities and Duties Include:

  • Directs administers and supervises the operation and management of daytoday functions school activities and related events of the Charter school; provides leadership and direction to all teachers and staff.

  • Provides leadership in the development and delivery of educational programs to include supervising and monitoring all instructional practices through coaching and mentoring of teachers and staff and offering opportunities for professional development.

  • Demonstrates proactive leadership and effective management skills to motivate and gain commitment of teachers and staff to facilitate task accomplishment.

  • Directs the development of the school master schedule and assign teachers based on identified needs; manages the Charter school class scheduling student enrollment and curriculum programs.

  • Supervises teachers and staff conducts annual performance evaluations and makes recommendations for appropriate employment actions in consultation with Human Resources and the Executive Director.

  • Utilizes current research performance data and feedback from students teachers parents and the community to make decisions related to improvements of instruction and student performance.

  • Monitors comparative and longitudinal student academic achievement data to make informed decisions on progress and to intervene when needed.

  • Manages and supervises the Charter schools financial resources including the preparation and disbursement of budgets accounting auditing and financial planning.

  • Ensures adherence and compliance to school policies state education regulations accreditation standards and other safety licensing and funding requirements; maintains accurate records and reports.

  • Coordinates with the college charter school sponsor and industry partners to meet the program goals of allowing students to achieve a high school diploma AS degree or certificate and a minimum of two industry certifications.

  • Represents the Charter school and SF in a positive and professional manner and demonstrates support for the school and the college as well as its mission values and goals.

  • Stays abreast of legal requirements and proposed changes in areas of responsibility to take appropriate and timely action.

  • Demonstrates initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement and take appropriate action; informs Executive Director of potential problems or unusual events.

  • Models and maintains high ethical standards as well as high visibility and accessibility within all areas of the school.

  • Promotes a culture of caring and success and provides a safe learning and working environment.

  • Complies with all published College Rules procedures guidelines and laws/regulations governing public employees including but not limited to those related to document retention and destruction FERPA and confidentiality.

  • Strictly honors the privacy security and confidentiality of student records and other sensitive information according to appropriate state federal and college regulations policies and procedures.

  • Provides service excellence through courteous informed accessible and professional engagement.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Executive Director of Secondary Programs

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: A masters degree from an accredited educational institution with five 5 years of successful K12 experience that includes work at the administrative level. Prior supervisory experience at the intermediate or senior level is required.

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

Preferred: A Florida Educational Leadership Certification and/or School Principal.
