Job Description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an asneeded basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Supplement and alter where appropriate lesson plans assignments tests and materials. Maintain accurate student records grades and other requirements.
  • Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
  • Demonstrate evidence of developing and implementing teaching strategies focused on engaging online students with their learning.
  • Interact with students and coworkers in a professional and cooperative manner complying with College policies guidelines and expectations.
  • Maintain a safe quality online educational environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees in which every individual feels respected and valued.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) other applicable regulatory requirements and professional standards.

Data Analytics Program DATA Standard:

A qualified faculty member in DataAnalytics DATA meets the program standard through one of four routes:

  • Possesses an earned masters degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in database data analytics information systems or related field as appropriate to the program; or
  • Possesses an earned related or outof field masters degree from a regionally accredited institution with documented 18 semester hours or equivalent of courses beyond the introductory principle(s) level in database data analytics information systems or related field as appropriate to the program; or
  • Possesses an earned related or outoffield masters degree from a regionally accredited institution with documentation in two or more of the following:
    • Professional certification (national regional or state)
    • Two years of infield professional employment
    • Documented evidence of teaching excellence including date of award
    • Documentation of research and publication in the field
    • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelors degree equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework CEUs vendor or military: or
  • Possesses an earned bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution in database data analytics information systems or related field as appropriate to the program with documentation in two or more of the following:
    • Professional certification (national regional or state) in the field
    • Two years of infield professional employment
    • Documented evidence of teaching excellence including date of award
    • Documentation of research and publication in the field
    • Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelors degree equivalent to 18 semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework CEUs vendor or military.

DBMS 131 Course Standard:

A qualified faculty member teaching DBMS 131 meets the DataAnalyticsprogram standard and holds a valid nonexpired Oracle SQL Fundamentals certification; Oracle Database Foundations certification; or other industry recognized SQL certification or two years of documented database administration professional employment.

DBMS 230 DBMS 231 DBMS 240 and DBMS241Course Standard:

A qualified faculty member teaching DBMS 230 DBMS 231 DBMS 240or DBMS 241meets the DataAnalyticsprogram standard and two years of documented SQL server professional employment.

DBMS 251 Course Standard:

A qualified faculty member teaching DBMS 251 meets the DataAnalyticsprogram standard and holds a valid nonexpired Oracle Administration certification or higherlevel Oracle certification; or two years of documented Oracle database administration professional employment.

DBMS 261 Course Standard:

A qualified faculty member teaching DBMS 261 meets the Data Analytics program standard and holds a valid nonexpired CIW Data Analyst certification; or two years of documented Data Analytics professional employment.

Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $46.80/contact hour
