Job Description
ENGINEERING MANAGER OTT APPS
Fulltime Remoteeligible (US Hungary Poland Peru and the possibility of other EU nations)
HOW YOU WILL IMPACT THE BIG PICTURE:
Lead the development delivery and sustainment of all EWTN OTT applications across multiple platforms (Apple TV Google TV Amazon Fire TV Roku Samsung TV LG TV etc.. With your blend of handson technical expertise and strong leadership capabilities you will drive innovation optimize performance and ensure seamless user experiences.
As a technical leader you will collaborate with crossfunctional teamsincluding Product Design Security and Complianceto align engineering solutions with EWTNs strategic objectives. You will also be responsible for managing internal and vendorled engineering teams ensuring highquality software development and maintaining compliance with regulatory and security standards.

You will not only bring technical expertise but also a passion for EWTNs mission. Understanding and supporting the Catholic faith and its values will be integral ensuring that the content and technology developed align with EWTNs commitment to evangelization and faithbased media.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Lead a growing team of engineers with the possibility of augmenting the team with remote contractors as needed.
- Oversee the endtoend lifecycle of OTT app development from initial design to production deployment and postlaunch support.
- Define and implement best practices for CI/CD pipelines using industrystandard tools (e.g. Jenkins GitLab CI CircleCI).
- Ensure app stability performance and security by conducting code reviews implementing monitoring solutions and enforcing development best practices.
- Act as the primary liaison between engineering teams product managers and executive stakeholders to ensure technical alignment with business goals.
- Drive architecture decisions including buy vs. build assessments thirdparty integrations and future scalability.
- Partner with Security and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements (GDPR ADA data privacy).
- Manage vendor relationships including selecting and evaluating external development partners.
- Establish and track KPIs related to application performance uptime user engagement and release velocity.
- Own the Annual Operating Planning and LongTerm Budget and Capital Planning for OTT app development.
ABOUT YOU:
Technical Expertise
Our stack includes the following technologies and you will have handson development experience with some of them as well as experience managing teams working with most of them:
- Languages & Frameworks:
- JavaScript / TypeScript
- Next.js / React
- Node.js / NPM
- SwiftUI (Apple TV) Kotlin/Java (Google TV & Amazon Fire TV) Tizen (Samsung TV) WebOS/JS (LG TV)
- Infrastructure & Architecture:
- RESTful API development and integration
- Cloud platforms (AWS Firebase or Azure)
- Microservices and composable architectures
- Observability frameworks (logging transaction tracing failure handling patterns)
- CI/CD tools (Jenkins GitLab CI Bitrise Fastlane)
Leadership & Management
- Proven ability to manage and mentor engineering teams fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Strong project management skills with experience leading complex technical initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with crossfunctional teams to align engineering strategies with business objectives.
- Vendor management experience including contract negotiation performance assessment and budget oversight.
UX/UI & Product Collaboration
- Experience working closely with UX/UI teams to implement highquality userfriendly interfaces.
- Familiarity with usability testing A/B testing and iterative development cycles.
- Ability to balance user experience improvements with technical feasibility and business constraints.
Metrics & Performance Tracking
- Demonstrated ability to define and track engineering KPIs including performance deployment efficiency system reliability and user engagement
PREFERRED:
- 5 years of handson experience in OTT app (or similar) development with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Experience with media streaming technologies video encoding and DRM solutions.
- Familiar with analytics platforms such as Google Analytics Mixpanel or Segment.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG ADA compliance) for OTT platforms.
- Passion for EWTNs mission and familiarity with Catholic teachings.
