The incumbent will support the Director Single Cell Biology with ongoing R&D and operations of the Single Cell Biology Laboratory (SCBL) within the Scientific Services at JAX supporting all JAX campuses. Services include single cell molecular assays imagingbased multiplex assays and an organoid screening platform. The Associate Director will assist in the delivery of methods and services supporting JAX and its external partners.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • JAXSingle Cell Biology Laboratory (JAXSCBL) Operations: Assists in the delivery of integrated single cell biology operations supporting all three JAX campuses needs. Assists in the delivery of integrated single cell biology operations supporting all University of Connecticut campuses. Evaluate test and develop new single cell multiplex imaging and organoid screening technologies. Through the NCI P30 Basic Cancer Center grant ensures the implementation of single cell multiplex imaging and organoid screening technologies into JAX Cancer Center member research programs. Provide consultative services for experimental design data acquisition analysis and downstream interpretation; supports/participates in grant applications and publications w/JAX Faculty. Interfaces with other JAX cores to facilitate sample collection sequencing and analysis. Assures JAX (research clinical clients and collaborators) has access to the highestquality and cost effective SCBL services and evolves operational approaches to meet this requirement (including outsourcing). Supervise four direct reports over two campuses (Connecticut & Maine) and assist in supervision of an additional six staff scientists. Extend the JAX platform access through collaborative service and commercial partnerships
  • Independent Research: Conducts independent research relevant to single cell biology and/or JAX interests; Publishes peer reviewed articles and other scientific and papers etc.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • PhD in relevant biomedical field (e.g. Molecular Biology Biochemistry Genetics Genomics Cell Biology or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing evaluating and implementing new technologies
  • Previous Single Cell Biology and/or Genomics experience >8 years)
  • Demonstrated collaborative effectiveness
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Pay Range: $119533 $155393
