About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Sous Chef to join their esteemed kitchen team. In this pivotal role youll collaborate closely with the Head Chef to design and execute menus that highlight the finest ingredients from Somerset and the South West. Your creativity and expertise will be instrumental in delivering memorable dining experiences that keep guests returning

Our client is nestled in a charming homely village in Somerset and has been since the 16th century. With its characterful setting open log fires and welcoming atmosphere it offers a quintessential countryside dining experience blending tradition with a refined yet relaxed approach to food and hospitality. This awardwinning establishment prides itself on showcasing the best of British cuisine with a strong emphasis on locally sourced seasonal ingredients.

Working Hours

  • Wednesday Sunday

Key Duties

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning and updating menus that reflect seasonal availability and local sourcing.

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards.

  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.

  • Maintain strict hygiene and safety protocols adhering to all relevant regulations.

  • Manage inventory and coordinate with suppliers to ensure fresh highquality ingredients are consistently available.

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a reputable kitchen.

  • Strong understanding of British cuisine with an emphasis on locally sourced and seasonal ingredients.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team.

  • Adept at multitasking and thriving under pressure during busy service periods.

  • Relevant culinary qualifications and uptodate knowledge of food safety standards.
