Job Description

Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher Thriving SEN School Bristol April Start

Location: Bristol
Contract: FullTime Permanent
Salary: MPS/UPS SEN Allowance

A highly motivated and dedicated SEN Teacher is required to join a thriving and inclusive SEN school in Bristol. This school is known for its outstanding support for students with a range of special educational needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and complex learning needs. The school has a strong ethos of inclusivity and personalised learning ensuring that every child receives the tailored support they need to thrive academically and socially.

Your Role as an SEN Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the diverse needs of SEN students.
  • Differentiate teaching materials to suit a variety of learning abilities and communication styles.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants therapists and support staff to provide holistic support for students.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence and independence.
  • Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Engage with parents carers and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Who Were Looking For:

  • A qualified SEN Teacher with experience working with students with additional needs.
  • A patient empathetic and resilient teaching approach.
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  • Experience using alternative communication methods (e.g. Makaton PECS) is an advantage.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and ensuring that every child reaches their full potential.
  • An Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain one).
