The Technical Project Manager Building Security is responsible for leading and delivering projects related to physical building security cybersecurity and Building Management Systems (BMS). This role requires expertise in security infrastructure access control systems surveillance intrusion detection and cybersecurity protocols to ensure the protection of buildings assets and occupants.
This role involves managing the endtoend project lifecycle from planning and to monitoring and completion ensuring seamless integration of security technologies into modern building environments. The ideal candidate will collaborate with crossfunctional teams including IT facilities management security operations and compliance to implement cuttingedge security solutions.
A strategic thinker with strong technical expertise risk assessment skills and leadership capabilities the Technical Project Manager will play a crucial role in securing smart buildings and digital infrastructure while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and cybersecurity best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management &
- Lead the planning and delivery of security projects ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
- Develop detailed project plans defining scope timelines resource allocation and risk management strategies.
- Coordinate with stakeholders vendors and contractors to ensure project requirements are met.
- Track project progress identify bottlenecks risks and mitigation strategies and report on key milestones.
- Ensure all security solutions are compliant with industry standards regulations and cybersecurity best practices.
Physical Building Security & Access Control
- Oversee the design implementation and maintenance of physical security systems including:
- Access Control Systems (badge systems biometric authentication smart locks).
- CCTV & Surveillance systems including remote monitoring capabilities.
- Intrusion Detection & Alarm Systems to enhance building security.
- Visitor Management & Perimeter Security measures.
- Conduct security risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities in physical security infrastructure.
- Ensure integration of physical security systems with building automation and IoT devices for centralized control.
Cybersecurity & Digital Security Infrastructure
- Implement cybersecurity measures for building security systems IoT networks and cloudbased access control solutions.
- Ensure encryption authentication and access control measures are in place to prevent unauthorized access.
- Monitor threat intelligence and vulnerabilities related to building security systems.
- Conduct penetration testing and security audits to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Collaborate with IT security teams to ensure secure data transmission storage and system integrity.
Building Management Systems (BMS) Security
- Oversee security aspects of Building Management Systems (BMS) including:
- HVAC lighting energy management and IoT devices.
- Secure networking and communication protocols within BMS.
- Implement multilayer security strategies to protect building automation from cyber threats.
- Work with cloud platforms (AWS Azure Google Cloud) to establish secure infrastructure for building operations.
- Ensure BMS and IoT device security compliance with industry frameworks such as ISO 27001 NIST GDPR and IEC 62443.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Act as the primary point of contact for security projects managing expectations and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate with IT security teams facility management and external partners to deliver integrated security solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and training to security teams and facility operators on new security systems and best practices.
Testing Auditing & Compliance
- Conduct pre and postimplementation security testing to ensure system performance and effectiveness.
- Perform regular audits to validate compliance with security standards and regulations.
- Document and report on security incidents vulnerabilities and risk assessments.
Qualifications :
Required Qualifications & Experience
Experience
- 7 years of experience in technical project management with a focus on physical security cybersecurity and BMS security.
- Proven experience managing projects related to:
- Access control systems CCTV surveillance and intrusion detection.
- Cybersecurity measures for building security and IoT environments.
- Integration of security systems with BMS and smart building infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as ISO 27001 NIST IEC 62443 GDPR and SOC 2.
- Handson experience in security risk assessment vulnerability testing and incident response.
Technical expertise in:
- Physical security systems (Access Control CCTV Intrusion Detection).
- Cybersecurity for smart buildings & IoT security.
- Building Management Systems (BMS) and security integration.
- IP Networking & Secure Communication Protocols (VPN VLAN Firewalls Encryption).
- Cloudbased security solutions (AWS Azure Google Cloud).
Education
- Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity Electrical Engineering Information Security or a related field.
Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory)
- Security Certifications (CISSP CISM CEH or similar).
- Cybersecurity & Compliance Certifications (ISO 27001 Lead Auditor CISA GIAC).
- BMS & Building Security Certifications (Niagara Lenel Genetec PACOM or equivalent).
Language & Travel Requirements
- Fluent in both spoken and written German and English.
- Must be flexible for travel within Germany to support onsite client engagements.
