Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the john Crane Slough team reporting to the Engineering Manager. The role of supporting Gas Seals Aftermarket Refurbishment is a multifaceted and technical position that requires expertise in design manufacturing testing and reverse engineering. It involves addressing complex engineering challenges by analysing and interpreting calculations applying proprietary software tools and devising innovative solutions to enhance performance.

This role is based from our headquarters within Slough working Monday to Friday normal office hours. (hybrid working)

Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Managing the engineering content on projects in the support of Gas Seal operations.
  • Evaluating and support in house tests of aftermarket dry gas seals and resolving performance issues as necessary.
  • Performing and interpreting calculations analyses and computations for unknown factors involving wellunderstood mechanisms.
  • Preparing technical feedback for both internal & external customers.
  • Supporting commercial teams in technical meetings with customers to help resolve issues and build relationships.
  • Developing point solutions and sharing lessons learnt.
  • Working with Operations to ensure stakeholders are apprised of project progress.
  • Utilising proprietary FEA analysis software to investigate issues.
  • Producing Concept sketches in CAD to convey design modifications.
  • Providing detailed technical support to customer queries.
  • Constantly maintaining the companys professional image via effective communication.

Qualifications :

  • Relevant work experience in a mechanical engineering role.
  • Experience with: Rotating Equipment precision engineering forensic analysis the oil & gas industry would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience in failure analysis and root cause analysis will prove advantageous.
  • Ability to read P&ID General Arrangement and detail drawings.
  • Awareness and general knowledge of controls control systems and instrumentation.
  • Able to create and work to a plan delivering on time and to expectations.
  • Can work independently and drive team goals forward.
  • Ability to conduct and lead meetings.
  • Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness.
