Overview

At Houston Methodist the Physician Recruiter position is responsible for leading and supporting Executives and/or Chairs with physician talent acquisition needs developing and establishing specified strategies partnering with hiring leaders to meet business placement objectives by attracting and hiring diverse top talent. This position sources assesses and negotiates offers (if applicable) ensuring alignment with Houston Methodists strategies and business goals. In addition to performing the duties of a recruiter this position provides strong strategic consulting to the organization on process and compliance in the recruitment environment. The Physician Recruiter position provides mentorship to team members serving as a recruitment subject matter expert resulting in the adherence to standards of practice for optimal safety quality outcomes and customer service.

Responsibilities

PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Consults with senior management and/or Chairs on physician openings to identify job specifications and candidate criteria to understand their business identifying recruitment strategies and providing recruitment and workforce planning services to meet the needs to hire talented and diverse candidates.
  • Consults with department clients to define short and longterm staffing needs (based on succession planning hiring forecast expected/unexpected turnover and new program development) proactively addressing these needs.
  • Conducts screening and interviews physician talent utilizing leadership interviewing and assessment tools (i.e. behavioral interview techniques etc.. Ensures a positive applicant and hiring manager experience throughout the hiring process which includes timely application follow up and interview status. Ensures nonselected candidates receive appropriate communication.
  • Serves as a role model and mentors peers as needed. Recommends opportunities for improvement of department score for turnover/retention/employee engagement.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Recruits passive and active candidates through a variety of creative recruitment technology strategies tools and social platforms utilizing cultural diversity and inclusion principles. Manages all phases of search assignments with executive recruiting firms.
  • Develops and implements physician recruitment plans and/or key jobs that identify sourcing activities project recruitment costs and take into consideration other issues that impact ability to recruit and retain qualified applicants including but not limited to compensation and other labor market issues.
  • Manages all phases of physician recruitment assessment and selection (full life cycle recruitment). Provides information on Houston Methodist opportunities to applicants emphasizing the employer of first choice. Takes appropriate action to ensure a successful hire.
  • Assists peers when appropriate and partners with HR team to ensure a smooth seamless onboarding process. Consistently communicates updates to applicants and hiring managers.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Practices appropriate hiring through a thorough understanding and compliance of employment law. Manages all information in the applicant tracking software following Houston Methodist procedures for hiring and dispositioning candidates.
  • Recommends needed metrics qualitative information and client feedback to project vacancies in key jobs for each fiscal year. Regularly produces and shares recruitment metrics on a regular basis. Meets and/or exceeds department metrics e.g. timetofill number of positions filled and diversity of candidate pool.
  • Utilizes feedback and data to provide bestinclass recommendations to clients. Reviews key business indicators and work with management Human Resources and Talent Acquisition team to identify develop and deploy continuous improvement initiatives.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Identifies appropriate search mediums to support physician staffing. Selects recruiting firms negotiate contracts and maintains ongoing relationship. Effectively recommend salary offers in alignment with Houston Methodist compensation philosophy.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Serves as talent consultant on best practices and recruiting to clients and peers. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the areas of recruiting Human Resources and healthcare by reading appropriate books journals articles and literature and attending professional development activities including webinars and professional association meetings. Continually researches and evaluates external marketplace and maintains ongoing awareness of business environment.
  • Networks with professional associations diversity organizations leadership institutions and key agencies for candidate cultivation and development and to promote a positive image of Houston Methodist internally and to the external market.
  • Seeks opportunities to identify selfdevelopmental needs and takes appropriate action. Ensures own career discussions occur with appropriate management. Completes and updates the My Development Plan on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
  • Bachelors Degree

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Five years of Human Resources experience with at least three of those years with demonstrated solid physician and/or executive experience
  • Human Resources exposure in a healthcare/academic medicine environment preferred

License/Certification
