Job Description

TITLE:

Data Centre Electrician (Day and Rotating Shift Positions Available)

LOCATION: 

Cambridge ON Canada

RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the operations team under the supervision of the Critical Facilities Manager the duties and responsibilities of the Data Centre Electrician include but are not limited to the following:

  • Work closely with lead electrician to gain knowledge and skills as required
  • Coordinate conduct or assist with all preventative corrective and emergency maintenance activities including those activities performed by Ascents clients or vendor staff
  • Manage client and vendor staff in the maintenance of buildings and grounds
  • Perform initial troubleshooting to electrical mechanical and infrastructural systems HVAC systems plumbing systems life safety systems security systems roofs drains shop equipment emergency power systems and systems furniture
  • Routinely inspect buildings space grounds and/or equipment regularly for problematic or unsafe conditions
  • Perform and oversee general and preventative maintenance tasks including equipment checks equipment performance monitoring cleaning lubrication and service of a wide variety of components/devices
  • Coordinate conduct or assist with facility renovations upgrades and buildouts including overseeing vendors
  • Manage and maintain site Building Management Systems CCTV Access Control System
  • Support overall site operation of the data center facility
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a valid 309A or 442A electrical license (Red Seal Designation preferred)
  • Sound working knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
  • Knowledge of Ontario Building Code an asset
  • High regard for health and safety
  • Must be customer and team oriented as well as selfmotivated and able to work successfully with minimal supervision
  • Minimum 3 years electrical service work experience required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Good communication and organizational skills are required
  • Selfstarter with developed analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Must have a valid drivers license and reliable transportation
  • Proficiency with basic operations of a computer including knowledge of MS Excel MS Word and MS Outlook

 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Required to maintain high level of facility cleanliness and equipment reliability which will require attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Walking and/or standing for long periods of time will be required
  • Bending stooping and lifting equipment may be required
