Job Description
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
**This officer will be working on Ivy Techs Shelbyville campus.**
Analyze situations quickly and objectively; effectively determine and take appropriate action.
Contact other respondents such as Police Department Health Services or Emergency Services as needed.
Provide escort services to students and staff as requested or required.
Respond to all alarms including fire and security alarms and investigate disturbances.
Provide rapid response to nonacute first aid or healthrelated situations.
Provide general assistance to students and visitors (i.e. directions phone numbers etc.
Remain professional at all times with a focus on safety.
Patrol the buildings to check for safety concerns
Lock and unlock buildings and offices as required; evacuate classrooms and buildings in emergencies; as necessary.
Assist with Clery Act compliance and incident reporting.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) other applicable regulatory requirements and professional standards.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a sworn officer employed by a local police department sheriffs office or state law enforcement agency.
Must at the time of employment and throughout employment with Ivy Tech maintain all Indiana administrative and statutory certifications as a sworn Indiana Law Enforcement Officer as outlined in 250 IAC 291 IC 5219(g) IC 3657 IC 3683 et seq.
Must be able to perform all the duties of a sworn police officer in this position effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills and student advocacy through a positive attitude approachability adaptability strong problemsolving skills and desire to identify and support student success required.
Ability to use CCTV system required.
Ability to deescalate and resolve situations required.
Must demonstrate appropriate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of the College students and employees.
