Job Description

VHIR offers a position for a Postdoctoral Researcher with a background in Human Genetics for the Medicine Genetics Research Group.


Education and qualifications:

Required:
  • Bachelors degree in Biology Biochemistry or Biomedicine; a Masters degree in Genetics and a PhD in Genetics are required
  • Specific training in Diagnostic Genetics
  • Fluency in Catalan Spanish and English (both spoken and written)


Experience and knowledge:
Required:
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a Diagnostic Genetics lab
  • Experience conducting functional studies to validate genetic variants
  • Proficiency in genetic matchmaking platforms (Matchmaker Exchange GeneMatcher
  • Excellent skills in science dissemination activities

Main responsibilities and duties:
  • Coordinate the Matchmaker exchange platform for all the undiagnosed cases with whole exome sequencing (WES) in the Genetics Area of Vall Hebron Hospital
  • Coordination of projects within international consortia dedicated to functional studies and/or cohort descriptions for the identification of new genes associated with disease
  • Develop and present comprehensive insights to drive new potential genetic diagnoses
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary group


Labour conditions:

  • Fulltime position: 40h/week
  • Starting date: June 2025
  • Gross annual salary: 24.78540 euros (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
  • Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
