Senior Support Worker

We are pleased to announce we have an exciting opportunity here at Potens for a Leadership Development Role.

Closing date: 03/04/2025

Join our small specialist Childrens Service on a designated management pathway to become our new Deputy Manager. You will begin your journey with us as a Senior Support Worker and we will work with you to support your development to gain the skills and experience necessary to take on a Deputy Manager role.

This bespoke service supports three children/young people with learning disabilities autism ADHD and related supported needs.

You will have access to formal learning including recognised qualifications and supportive on the job mentorship that is required to gain the skills and experience to become our next Deputy Manager and advance your career within the Childrens Social Care sector.

What youll be doing:

  • Working with the Registered Manager to support the 24hour management of the home ensuring that all aspects of service delivery are focused on meeting the needs of the young people we support
  • You will support a team of staff members ensuring their induction training and development through mentoring and onthejob supervisions.
  • You will be contributing to the young persons care plans risk assessments their review and implementation to provide effective strategies to assist the young people we support to achieve their identified outcomes.
  • You will lead on meetings and form robust relationships with social workers and other key stakeholders including families and health providers.
  • You will be part of an oncall system for the home with the support of senior managers from the organisation.
  • You will deputise for the Manager in their absence to lead the service.
  • Incident management safeguarding considerations of the home.
  • Developing your leadership and management skills in a supportive environment through on the job and formal learning.

Who you are:

  • You will have a minimum of two years of experience as a Support Worker or you are an existing Senior Support Worker working in the social care sector preferably with children or adults with learning disabilities autism or similar needs.
  • You are able to work independently multitask organise and prioritise work to suit the people we support.
  • You will have a can do attitude and a mature and professional approach.
  • You will be a positive role model to the children we support and to your colleagues.
  • You will have good communication skills.
  • You will have the ability to execute and deliver the requirements of your role whilst keeping a positive attitude under pressure.
  • You will be a quick learner with the aptitude to successfully undertake formal leadership and management learnings.
  • You will be practical and hands on willing to be flexible in tasks and activities.
  • You will have the ability to work flexibly as needed to meet the needs of this service. This will include some weekend working.
  • You will be exceptional at building relationships and influencing at all levels internal and external.
  • Must be a driver due to service needs.
