Job Description Summary
It is IMPORTANT to read the Special Instructions to the Applicants (see below) Plan and facilitate engaging free multimodal lessons for adult English language learners who are primarily from Central and South America and Eastern Europe. Create an encouraging and welcoming classroom community. Design activities to support students using newly developing language skills in the contexts of workplace home and family civic participation health and wellness and academic training.
Duties
1. Design lessons to help students develop their English listening speaking reading and writing skills and strategies 2. Administer formal and informal assessments in class to help determine instructional needs 3. Utilize classroom technology to enhance student learning including in distance learning and hybrid environments. 4. Maintain communications with students administrators and other staff 5. Maintain student records related to the course 6. Support overall needs of students related to enrollment persistence and completion 7. Participate in departmental college and state professional development opportunities as they arise
Minimum Requirements
1. Bachelors degree 2. Demonstrated teaching experience in English grammar writing ESL or EFL classes 3. Demonstrated experience with Word Excel Outlook and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
1. Certification and/or masters degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages TESOL or closely related field 2. At least one years experience teaching adult English language learners (ELLs) 3. Familiarity and comfort with using technology in the classroom (both virtual and traditional) including Zoom Moodle Burlington English SMART Boards iPads computers interactive PowerPoint presentations etc. 4. Planning and teaching experience in additional subjects such as social studies math health vocational training soft skills developmental English etc. 5. Experience with career counseling job placement and/or international student or worker visas
