Position Summary:

Who are we looking for We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join the Financial Accounting Services (FAS) team at Oklahoma City University who has an attention to detail a strong communicator excellent workethic is wellorganized can work both independently and on a team and has the ability to adapt to new situations.

The incumbent in this position will spend the majority of working time on campus however there may be opportunities to work remotely on occasion after a reasonable period to demonstrate successful job performance to support worklife balance flexibility. Remote work days are approved by departmentleadershipon a case by case basis.

What will you work on You will be responsible providing accounting services as part of OCUs overall financial operations and function including general ledger accounting receivables and cash receipts processing bank account monitoring gift and pledge transaction processing and tracking classifying transactions account reconciliations budget and fund transfers journal voucher processing and posting general data entry and maintenance in the primary ERP and Accounting database (i.e. Banner) account analysis and research as well as other financial accounting activities. Further you will participate in monthend quarterend and yearend closing processes with the rest of the FAS team. Other ad hoc tasks and special projects should be expected as assigned by your direct supervisor and Department management.

Who will you work with The Staff Accountant is part of within the FAS team and works closely with all of its members. The FAS team is led by the Controller and further consists of other Accounting and Finance staff including the Accounts Payable team. Youll report to the Assistant Controller who is your direct supervisor. You will also work closely with the Advancement Department as part of your duties related to gift and pledge transactions. FAS interacts with all areas of OCU and serves as to support the University in its overall financial operations and functions.

Your background and qualifications An associates degree in accounting bookkeeping or a related field is required at minimum. Other college or professional education may be acceptable depending on its nature and relevance. Experience in the Higher Education or NonProfit industries is a plus but not a requirement. Youre required to have a minimum of 2 years accounting or Bookkeeping experience that demonstrates a strong competency the basics of these fields and administrative work. A suitable combination of education and experience in accounting bookkeeping or other related fields may be substituted in certain circumstances for the above minimum qualifications.

The knowledge skills and abilities needed for success in this role Youll have strong knowledge and experience in the basic principles of accounting or bookkeeping including (though not limited to) understanding transaction impacts to the accounting records journal and other data entry into an accounting software or database construction and maintaining reconciliations physical and digital record keeping and interfacing with internal and external constituents.

Youll also have a working knowledge and skills associated with recognizing the importance of internal control policies and maintaining related process and procedure documentation specific to your area ability to utilize basic reporting tools available to complete your assigned duties and objectives.

Other desired abilities expected of you will be to maintain a high level of confidentiality attention to detail adequate communication and customer service skills multitasking and meeting deadlines efficient data entry into software applications excellent computer skills (including fluent proficiency in MS Office products like Excel Word and Outlook and pdf applications) and working general office equipment.

**The anticipated salary range for this position is $20.19 to $21.63 hourly.**
