General Information:

James Madison University a Division I member of the NCAA is seeking a Director of Internal Operations and Events within the Duke Club the fundraising arm for James Madison University Athletics. This is a fulltime position with a comprehensive benefits package.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Director of Internal Operations and Events will assist in the overall internal daytoday operations at the Duke Club that includes but not limited to responsible for the design and of a strategic communication/marketing plan for the Duke Club; management of internal staff; maintain state and Foundation budget; game day operations; oversee the implementation of targeted communications solicitations stewardship and events to Duke Club constituents.

Which includes but not limited to:

  • Create and execute strategic plan for solicitations to new and current members to include digital and print communications.
  • Oversee the Assistant Director of Events and Stewardship to execute all stewardship needs for membership programs overall donor base and events throughout the year.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to internal operations staff.
  • Oversee the Student Duke Club Student Internship & Practicum program
  • Aid in the management of digital systems including but not limited to Paciolan Advance Sidearm Eloqua and voicemail/texting platforms in order to enhance the productivity and efficiency of the Duke Club office.
  • Act as a Duke Club Liaison with University Athletics and thirdparty partners
  • Game Day responsibilities for football and basketball games inclusive of staff schedules and premium spaces.
  • Maintains fiscal responsibility for Duke Club (i.e. Small Purchase Credit Card Foundation Budget and State Budget).
  • Ability to travel preferred.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in the field of communications marketing sports management or related field.
  • 13 years of professional experience within athletics public relations fundraising communications journalism or related field.
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles and experience working within graphic design platforms.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive personal and financial information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree from an accredited institution in the field of communications marketing sports management or related field.
  • 35 years of professional experience within athletics public relations fundraising communications journalism or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working within content management and graphic design platforms (Eloqua Adobe Photoshop Sidearm HootSuite etc.
  • Demonstrated experience within database management (Paciolan Advance Salesforce etc.
  • Professional experience within Division I collegiate athletics.
  • Prior staff supervisory experience.
