Position Summary

Walsh University is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for an innovative energetic individual interested in joining and leading the Counseling and Human Development program. Currently we have an open position for a Program Chair/Core Faculty member. We offer a fully online CACREPAccredited Master of Arts degree with specializations in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. Additionally the program has an approved academic certificate in addictions counseling. The Counseling and Human Development program is housed in the School of Behavioral and Health Sciences along with programs in Exercise Science Social and Behavioral Sciences Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Administration of the program
  • Maintain CACREP accreditation
  • Lead CACREP processes and reporting
  • Mentor and evaluate fulltime faculty
  • Recruit and mentor adjunct faculty
  • Teach in area(s) of content expertise
  • Experience in online teaching and/or online course development
  • Review revise and develop curriculum
  • Advise and mentor students
  • Maintain an active scholarly agenda pertinent to area of expertise
  • Serve in various committees on campus in addition to serving the profession through involvement with professional associations etc.
  • Collaborate with the Dean VP of Academic Affairs and other Program Chairs
  • Collaborate with Graduate Admissions in recruiting prospective graduate students
  • And more exciting opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities)

Must understand and support the Mission Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae and possess the following:

Education:

  • Meet CACREP expectations for core faculty as outlined in 2024 CACREP standards.
  • PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision from a CACREP accredited institution
  • Eligible for licensure as an LPC and/or school counselor in the state of Ohio

Work Experience:

  • 35 years of experience as a licensed clinical practitioner in community mental health and/or in school counseling settings preferred
  • Teaching experience at the graduate level (especially in a CACREP accredited graduate program)
  • Experience in curriculum/course development and program assessment preferred
  • Prior administrative and/or leadership experience strongly preferred

Skills and abilities:

  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead complex projects in a collaborative manner
