Job Description

Are you a dedicated and innovative Chemistry Teacher eager to inspire students in a successful mixed secondary school in Hounslow We are seeking a passionate educator to join our Science department starting April 2025. Our Science department is a collaborative team dedicated to delivering an engaging and challenging curriculum adapted to a midyear start focusing on practical experiments and chemical theories.

About the Role:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging Chemistry lessons across Key Stages 3 4 and 5 following relevant examination specifications and adapting to the needs of students joining midyear by providing differentiated learning materials and flexible lesson plans.
  • Prepare students for GCSE and ALevel Chemistry examinations ensuring they have a strong understanding of assessment criteria and chemical methodologies and providing targeted support for those joining midyear by focusing on key concepts and exam techniques..
  • Foster a love of chemistry in students encouraging them to develop their analytical critical thinking and problemsolving skills and to appreciate the impact of chemistry on society.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment and to contribute to the wider academic and extracurricular life of the school including participation in science clubs and chemistry competitions with a focus on team integration and collaboration.
  • Organize and lead laboratory experiments chemical demonstrations and sciencerelated activities promoting handson learning and scientific inquiry and providing opportunities for students to showcase their work.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Chemistry including chemical theories and laboratory techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach across Key Stages 3 4 and 5 including ALevel.
  • Experience in preparing students for GCSE and ALevel Chemistry examinations.
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and practical skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities including those joining midyear.
  • A passion for chemistry and a commitment to fostering scientific inquiry and practical skills.
  • Ability to organize and lead laboratory experiments and chemical demonstrations.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to quickly integrate into a school environment midyear.
