The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming setting up and operating CNC and/or manual lathes to produce precision metal parts. This role requires strong attention to detail knowledge of machining processes and the ability to interpret technical drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup & Programming:
- Set up CNC and/or manual lathes according to job specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints technical drawings and work orders.
- Create edit and adjust CNC programs as needed for efficient machining.
- Select appropriate cutting tools speeds and feeds for different materials.
- Operation & Quality Control:
- Operate lathes to machine parts within tight tolerances.
- Inspect finished parts using calipers micrometers gauges and other measuring tools.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify and troubleshoot machining or programming issues.
- Safety & Efficiency:
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
- Optimize production processes to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with other machinists engineers and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
Requirements
- Experience:
- 2 years of experience in lathe setup and operation (CNC or manual).
- Experience with Gcode programming and conversational programming (preferred).
- Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools.
- Strong problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of different metal materials and machining processes.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
