Job Description
Te Whiwhinga mahi The opportunity
He huru Mwai our Mori Student Support Centre plays a vital role in ensuring tauira Mori feel welcomed supported and empowered throughout their university journey. We are looking for a Mori Student Adviser to provide exceptional pastoral care and engagement supporting tauira Mori to succeed academically socially and personally.
As the first point of contact for many students and their whnau you will offer advice connect tauira to the right support services and help foster a strong sense of belonging. You will also assist with engagement initiatives events and operational activities that enhance the student experience.
This is a fulltime 37.5 hours per week) permanent position.
Remuneration is $62000 $77800 depending on skills and experience.

He huru Mwai is a dedicated Mori student support space within the University offering a culturally safe and welcoming environment for tauira Mori. Guided by manaakitanga whanaungatanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi our team is committed to ensuring tauira Mori have the support and resources they need to thrive.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting Mori student success and is confident engaging with tauira Mori and their whnau. You will be approachable culturally competent and able to foster meaningful relationships across the University.
Ng Pkenga Motuhake Important Skills
- Experience in student support pastoral care customer service or administration
- Knowledge and understanding of tikanga Mori and Te Ao Mori values
- Strong relationshipbuilding skills with tauira Mori staff and external stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on manaakitanga
- Organisational skills with the ability to coordinate events and engagement initiatives
- Proficiency in using databases and student support systems (preferred)
- Fluency or strong proficiency in Te Reo Mori (preferred)
