Job Description

As a Structural Engineering Intern at KPFF you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on realworld projects gaining handson experience in various phases of the design and construction process. This internship provides valuable structural analysis modeling and design exposure while allowing you to contribute ideas and solutions that enhance project efficiency and integrity.

Throughout the internship you will:

  • Collaborate with seasoned engineers on structural projects during design analysis and construction phases.
  • Conduct structural analysis simulations and calculations using Revit RAM and RISA tools.
  • Use Revit to assist in creating structural drawings and specifications.
  • Participate in site visits and inspections gaining practical insights into construction processes.
  • Contribute to team discussions and problemsolving efforts bringing fresh perspectives to the project.

Position Overview

This is a nonexempt temporary position. All overtime hours are paid at a timeandahalf hourly rate. 

Salary

The pay rate for this position is a range between $28$32 an hour depending on school year and prior internship experience


Qualifications :

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters Degree program in Civil or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structures.
  • Completion of at least 90 credits including two or more design courses (e.g. concrete steel wood or masonry) by the start of the internship (Senior or Masters status).
  • Basic knowledge of structural engineering fundamentals (e.g. free body diagrams P/V/M diagrams).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong technical and organizational abilities with an ability to work collaboratively.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Interns primarily work in a standard office setting with occasional travel to project sites.
  • Field visits may involve walking standing kneeling or navigating uneven terrain.
  • Must comply with all safety requirements in the office and on job sites.

Internship Duration

  • The internship typically runs during the summer from May/June to August/September with fulltime hours but we also have availability to be flexible around someones school schedule during the year
  • Exact start and end dates may vary depending on the students availability.
