Job Description
Key Role:
Primarily functioning as a junior substation design engineer for transmission distribution and renewable energy projects. The candidate should be experienced in primary plant substation design. Exposure to HV/MV transmission lines will be beneficial.
Up to 50 travel to clients sites and manufacturers premises is envisaged. The role will require foreign travel specifically in Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparation of functional designs specifications bills of quantity and tender documents for substation projects 11kV to 400kV) to internationally accepted standards for clients in Southern Africa and internationally under the supervision of a senior engineer.
- Assist in preparation of reports calculations and drawings to stakeholder requirements.
- Participation in tender evaluation process as part of a team.
- Assist in the review detailed designs of substations and substation technologies submitted by contractors against specifications.
- Attend meetings with project stakeholders and prepare minutes.
- At time conduct site audits and inputs to Project Scoping.
- Provide project engineering support during the construction and commissioning phase of transmission and distribution projects including responding to technical queries factory inspection and witnessing the testing of substation equipment review of routine and type test results and reports and monitoring progress of construction on site.
- Assist the team with preparation and review of project scope methodology schedules and budget for proposals for consultancy services
- Maintaining relationships with internal divisions external contractors and clients.

Qualifications :
Qualifications and Experience Required
BSc Engineering (Electrical) or BTech Engineering (Electrical) with at least 3 years engineering experience.
Key Competencies and Generic Skills
Ability to work within a team of engineers.
Good communication skills.
Good technical report writing skills.
Ability to manage time quality and effort in order to deliver a quality product within time and cost constraints.
Ability to work under pressure.
Must be able to function independently.
