Job Description
This FarmertoFarmer volunteer assignment will be implemented in the Tacna region of Peru. The goal of this assignment is to support the members of the Cooperativa Agraria Yalpa Limitada and orange farmers in Tacna with the strengthening of their cooperative business model processes.
Objectives:
- Better understanding of the basics of the cooperative model.
- Strengthening the understanding of roles and functions for its governance authorities (board of directors and committees) and coops bylaws.
- Strengthen business processes management as an agrarian cooperative
Deliverables:
- Training sessions about cooperative business model foundations processes among others
- Draft or sample for role and functions manual/policies for governance authorities and revision of current coops by laws
- Training in business management for agrarian cooperatives
- A Trip Report with SMART Recommendations that will help to improve the HO business. This report should be submitted to the Field and HQ staff prior to departure from incountry assignment
- An outreach activity. Upon return to the United States the volunteer is asked to share his or her FarmertoFarmer Program experience with their community and networks.
Qualifications :
- Degree in Business Administration economics cooperative management
- Specialization in organization development and cooperative business model management
- Experience with management of agricultural cooperatives
- Experience facilitating training and effective communication skills
- Knowledge of the orange productive chain is desirable
Additional Information :
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL ALSO HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to be flexible and available for two week volunteer assignments;
- Desire to promote crosscultural learning and exchanges through technical assistance;
- Available for virtual communications with Host Organization and Staff;
- U.S. citizen or resident; and
- Advanced English language skills in reading writing and speaking.
