We are looking for a versatile and motivated gardener with a desire to create and maintain the stunning gardens at our community. Your dedication to great customer service will shine through for our residents who are at the heart of all we do. We garden using natural techniques and are looking for somebody with a true passion for gardening.
We pay market rates and provide a uniform including quality wet weather gear tools and PPE. We provide training and we promote an educational path for our gardeners encouraging apprenticeships with Primary ITO.
This is a physically demanding job and a high level of fitness is required.

- Demonstrated competence in a similar role
- Demonstrated knowledge of plants growth patterns
- Highly motivated flexible and able to take initiative
- Safe work practices
- NZ Drivers License and the ability to drive a small manual truck
We will be interviewing and screening NZ Residents and NZ Citizens as a priority before looking internationally.
- NZQF Level 4 qualification or at least three years working experience

- $25.75 to $29.66 depending on qualifications and experience

- Excellent communications and organisational skills with a high level of flexibility
- The ability to work well with colleagues as part of a team and alone
- A demonstrated knowledge of plants and their growth patterns
- Tending to a wide range of gardening activities site preparation planting garden and plant maintenance including mowing lawns and using various garden power tools
- The ability to remain calm and courteous while delivering the best customer service outcomes for our Residents
- A strong work ethic reliable time and safety conscious
- A high level of fitness as this job is very physical
Tasks include:
- preparing and maintaining seedbeds and growing sites
- propagating and planting trees bushes hedges flowers and bulbs
- preparing lawn areas by spreading top soil and planting grass and by laying instant turf
- maintaining planted and grassed areas by weeding trimming fertilising watering and mowing
- pruning trees and hedges and installing plant support and protection devices
- examining trees to assess their condition and determine treatment
