Job Description

Roles and responsibilities


Responsible for the design assurance of high voltage systems for all design stages 30, 60, 90 for projects designed ‘in-house' in accordance with approved design guidelines and standards
Provide test assurance for high voltage installations
Coordinate and interface design activities (drawings and specifications) with other design disciplines as part of an integrated design team
Responsible for implementing and managing the value engineering process
Identify and support the implementation of potential cost / time optimization opportunities and provide value engineering recommendations
Manage the design-based activities for the discipline ‘outsourced' design packages, including design reviews and technical approvals as required whilst ensuring adherence to regulations and design guidelines
Work collaboratively as part of the integrated project delivery team and reports into the project manager for activities that relate to the objectives of a project
Design and Development
System Design: Design high voltage electrical systems for power transmission and distribution, ensuring they meet industry standards and safety regulations.
Technical Specifications: Develop detailed technical specifications and drawings for electrical systems, including substations, transformers, and switchgear.
Equipment Selection: Select appropriate high voltage equipment, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and isolators, ensuring compatibility and safety.
Simulation and Modeling: Use software tools to simulate high voltage systems and predict their behavior under various operating conditions.
Installation and Commissioning
System Installation: Oversee the installation of high voltage electrical equipment, ensuring proper setup and alignment of components.
Commissioning: Test and commission new high voltage systems, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently from the start.
System Integration: Integrate various components of the electrical system, ensuring proper communication and functionality between devices.
Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety standards during installation, such as proper grounding, insulation, and protective measures.


Desired candidate profile

Education

Bachelors/ Masters/ PhD in in Electrical Engineering or equivalent


Experience

5+ years experience managing low voltage systems design projects

Safety Standards: Ensure that all high voltage systems are designed, installed, and maintained in compliance with national and international safety standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments for high voltage operations and implement safety measures to minimize the potential for accidents, such as electric shocks, fires, or explosions.
Training and Procedures: Develop and enforce safety protocols for personnel working with high voltage equipment. Provide training on safe operation and emergency procedures.
Compliance Audits: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to electrical safety, environmental impact, and operational standards.
