Role Description
The Senior Automation Engineer is responsible for continuously enhancing automation and technology while ensuring compliance with company policies. This position requires a motivated detailoriented and resultsdriven team player who incorporates safety and quality into all decisions and activities.
Responsibilities
- Meet all safety requirements for job functions ensuring all reporting personnel and contractors follow OSHA and safety standards.
- Use a continuous improvement mindset to enhance safety quality profitability efficiency and productivity through technology personnel training and process improvement.
- Lead automation process improvements and maintenance activities.
- Provide leadership for automation upgrades and new installation projects.
- Modernize logical control systems for plant facilities and processes to improve product quality and working conditions.
- Actively participate in SCADA and ERP integration implementation.
- Train and mentor junior engineers and plant personnel as needed.
- Work with local and remote teams to train and maintain control systems.
- Create and maintain design documents to meet departmental and project requirements.
- Ensure all control project maintenance is performed including secured backups.
- Ensure systems conform to standards and associated documentation.
- Provide performance analysis reports and justifications for projects and maintenance programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of business goals and objectives.
Requirements
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in designing and programming Siemens TIA Portal Step 7 and WinCC platforms.
- Knowledge and understanding of web mobile API and database testing technologies.
- Experience with SCADA/PLC systems such as WinCC SCADA Ignition or VTScada.
- Highlevel proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
- Understanding of process systems including batch and continuous.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Dependable flexible and able to respond on short notice to satisfy customer requirements.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude.
- Support all current Good Manufacturing & Lean principles safety and environmental regulations.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problemsolving skills.
Education:
- BS Degree in Engineering preferably in Electrical Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
- 810 years of progressive experience in Controls Engineering.
- Preferred experience in Manufacturing Chemical Pharmaceutical or Food manufacturing environments.
- Experience with LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma is preferred.
- Experience with NSF and ISO processes procedures and audits.
