Job Description

Are you looking for a dynamic and fastpaced environment where your accounting expertise will be valued Our client located in Lindenhurst NY comprises multiple companies specializing in readymix concrete quarries and more. They are seeking a detailoriented and experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join their team reporting directly to the CFO. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a company that values collaboration and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee general accounting functions and handle various financial tasks that are crucial to the companys operations.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly ensuring all deposits are accurately verified.
  • Handle additional financial account reconciliations ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • File critical tax forms including sales tax and truck tax forms in a timely manner.
  • Support the Controller by preparing general ledger work papers for review.
  • Stay updated on the latest accounting standards and ensure the company follows accepted practices and procedures.
  • Take on additional ad hoc accounting tasks as required contributing to the teams success.

What Were Looking For:

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software such as NetSuite (experience with specific accounting software systems is a plus).
  • Indepth understanding of both general financial and cost accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the ability to apply them in realworld situations.
  • Strong ability to prepare tax reports accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • A strong sense of organization and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively in a fastpaced environment.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field (preferred).
  • CPA certification (preferred) or experience working in a public accounting firm is a strong plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience is preferred.
