Photonic Design Engineer

Tasks
LIGENTECs engineering team is searching for a Photonic Design Engineer with a solid background in designing photonic integrated circuits (PICs) to join its team. The successful candidate will be eager to learn and passionate about the role. Your responsibilities will include component optimization layout and data analysis while contributing to both customer and internal projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and layout of passive components for customer and strategic roadmap projects
- Assess the performance of components and circuits by analyzing experimental data
- Contribute to the design and layout of active components (e.g. modulators and photodiodes) for RF and CW domain
- Follow layout best practices and contribute to our layout library
- Contribute to feasibility studies for customer projects
- Collaborate with the characterization team to gather capabilities and provide support in test planning and data analysis
- Interface with the process and yield engineering teams to collect requirements and capabilities and design test structures
- Provide concise and clear documentation and reporting
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in photonics or related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years of handson experience in integrated optics design and layout in a top environment preferably industrial.
- Proficiency in designing passive photonic components and circuits
- Proficiency in Python programming. Familiarity with code versioning for collaborative software development is a plus
- Competent with layout tools (e.g. IPKISS) and best practices
- Familiar with dataset analysis from photonic components and circuits
- Familiarity with active components and heterogeneous integration is a plus
- Understanding of PIC manufacturing and test implications on design (designfor testability and designformanufacturability)
- Collaborative and eager to learn seeking to grow and develop alongside the design team and colleagues.
- Proactive and solutionoriented mindset.
- Working proficiency in English.
