Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Environmental Project Manager to join our Midwest team. This hybrid role will be based in our Indianapolis Indiana office.
This role will lead projects and pursuits related to assessment and permitting of transportation infrastructure renewable energy hydrogen electric transmission infrastructure and other energy facilities across the US; grow a team of environmental professionals across the geography; and lead business development activities with existing and new clients. The successful candidate will join a network of existing AECOM specialists across the U.S. available to assist in project pursuits and execution.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
- Manages environmental planning and permitting projects of all sizes and complexities in the U.S.
- Collaborate across AECOMs extensive business lines in the region on project execution and client development.
- Lead and manage client advancement proposal development and contract negotiations with existing and new clients in the Midwest.
- Assist in the development of an environmental planning and permitting practice throughout the Midwest.
- Grow AECOM client base and market presence in the Midwest in the transportation sector.

Qualifications :
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in environmental science biology environmental planning natural/biological resource management or other related fields.
- 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in successfully managing and supporting permitting and environmental impact analysis documents and associated technical studies and oversight on Endangered Species Act (ESA) compliance Clean Water Act (CWA) permitting.
- Position requires that the candidate must be able to travel for agency/client meetings as well as field work.
- Valid Drivers license is required for this role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in relevant field
- 10 years full time work experience in related field environmental permitting NEPA compliance natural resources management and/or cultural resources management consulting industry.
- Strong current and recent experience with federal agencies roadway infrastructure utilities and other energy companies.
- Demonstrated leadership in proposal development and successful pursuit of competitive bids.
- Experience managing a team and mentoring staff.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex interdisciplinary environmental planning projects including client interaction schedule and budget controls and invoicing.
- Strong experience with client relationship building and leading and delivering environmental permitting services including ability to manage projects interdisciplinary teams and workload as well as interface with clients.
- Established agency and client relationships with ability to market and win work successfully and effectively for the team office and region as related to transportation industry utility and other industrial sectors.
- Experience working in a fastpaced consulting environment managing and mentoring staff.
- High degree of selfmotivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision as well as in a collaborative team environment
- Organizational management skills and ability to delegate multitask and perform detailoriented work.
