Senior Principal Civil Engineer

The opportunity exists for an experienced civil engineer to join AFRYs Energy Division within the expanding Thermal and Renewable Energy team in the UK.

You will provide clients with help and support at all project stages including technical and economic feasibility studies technology assessments technical due diligence reviews Lenders Engineer services front end engineering design (FEED) studies owners engineer services engineeringprocurementconstructionmanagement (EPCM) services operation and maintenance support and optimisation and expert witness services.

To thrive in the role using your expertise to provide engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification analysis and resolution of project challenges.  Also preparing specifications and minimum functional specifications for the civil engineering aspects of energy projects.

You will be providing conceptual preliminary and detailed design deliverables including but not limited to: drawings technical specifications cost estimates construction schedules etc based on the experience you can demonstrate.

You will be required to build a continuous improvement culture of jobrelated engineering technical and professional knowledge skills and performance and supporting the development of other engineers.

Also ensuring the safety of our team business and clients you will be identifying potential health & safety design sustainability and commercial risks on our projects and contribute towards mitigating them.

Participating in business development work including developing contacts presenting AFRYs capability preparing proposals and managing bids will be key to the role.

Qualifications :

We are looking for someone who holds a degree in Civil Engineering and maintains Chartered Engineer status (principal engineer) or working towards senior engineer.

We would expect you to have the following skills and experience (but we dont expect anyone to tick every box):

Having a detailed working knowledge of codes and standards used within the UK energy sector (Eurocodes and British Standards).

The ability to thrive on problems and situations for which you have no prior experience and creating valuable solutions effectively and efficiently would be advantageous. Along with being able to structure unclear situations and client problems into actionable tasks and projects.

Being a good communicator and demonstrating the ability to reduce complex issues to understandable arguments and presentations to senior management from different cultural backgrounds and employees would be desirable.  Attention to detail and being highly structured and articulate in writing and presentation skills are paramount for this role; therefore you would be required to be proficient in spoken and written English.
