Guest Activities Animator

The Animator is responsible for the day to day organization and implementation of the various activities available throughout the Resort Activities Department. This includes group presentations guided activities and various social & kids events. The coordinator must possess a combination of guest service excellence with a friendly outgoing disposition.  This role requires someone who is willing to be a selfstarter with a contagious enthusiasm for the local area.  As a key member of our Resort Activities department the thoughtful attention you provide to our guests will make them feel welcome and valued.

• Organize activities both on and off property and supervise up to 12 people
• Perform interpretive presentations to groups of up to 50 people on a regular basis
• Ensure the guest activity areas are clean and well prepared with adequate supplies
• Assist in organizing updating and maintaining information in our online activity booking system
• In collaboration with the team develop and implement Social Events and Kids activities that appeal to all of our guests. Train all team members on how each activity should be executed and followup for consistency and service excellence.
• To assist in continuous marketing and promotion of all Guests activities
• Direct customer interaction exemplary in all aspects of customer service
• Instruct guests in use of equipment and ensure safety regulations are adhered to by hotel and government regulations
• Consistently offer professional friendly and engaging service
• Assist in promoting the facility and organize special/private events as required
• Support Resort Activities team with Rental Shop Health Club Boathouse Fairmont fitness and other resort activities duties as required
• Facilitate relations with various hotel departments to achieve common goals
• Ensure a clean and safe working environment and actively participate in health and safety initiatives
• Adhere to all hotel environmental policies and initiatives
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role including:
• Frequent standing and walking throughout shift
• Occasional kneeling pushing pulling lifting
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders stairs and ramps
• Capable of lifting and moving canoes (90 pounds)
• Capable of pushing pool towel bins (90 pounds)
• Carry out any other tasks as assigned

Qualifications :

• Minimum 1 year of experience in facilitating recreational activities
• Certification in CPR and First Aid required
• Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
• Proven excellent guest services skills including professional verbal communication skills
• Comfortable presenting to large groups of people on a regular basis
• Extensive customer service experience ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people
• Highly responsible creative energetic reliable and demonstrating initiative as required
• Able to work independently
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word Excel Outlook and design software)
• Knowledgeable about the hotel surrounding area and National Parks is an asset
• Retail or cash handling experience an asset
• IGA Apprentice Guide certification an asset
• Class 4 driver license an asset
• Legally able to work with children (not restricted by work permit)
