Job description

As a Precious Metals Trader/Senior Trader you will play a pivotal role in supporting our business development team by providing pricing support and effectively managing financial market risks during hedging and trading activities. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at ensuring smooth and profitable trading operations in the precious metals and foreign exchange markets.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide pricing and liquidity: Offer pricing and liquidity to the business development team to facilitate transactions with clients ensuring competitive rates and efficient execution.
• Hedge backtoback: Utilize electronic trading platforms to hedge backtoback mitigating market risks and minimizing exposure to price slippage.
• Identify trading opportunities: Actively seek and capitalize on trading opportunities within markethour timeframes leveraging market insights and analysis.
• Reconcile positions and P&L: Reconcile position balances and profit/loss statements with the finance department at the end of each trading session ensuring accuracy and transparency.
• Maintain communication channels: Keep at least one digital communication channel open on network devices to facilitate seamless communication with relevant stakeholders.
• Execute trades: Ensure timely and accurate execution and pricing of trades for both internal and external customers including precious metals and FX derivatives such as futures options swaps OTC spot and forward transactions.
• Manage diverse product portfolio: Trade in a variety of products including gold silver PGM and foreign exchange currencies such as USD JPY and CNH/CNY contributing to the companys profitability through metals trading financing deals leasing arbitrage opportunities EFPs and calendar spreads.
• Conduct market analysis: Conduct pricing research analyse market and industry trends and perform transaction cost analysis to inform trading strategies and decisions.
• P&L analysis: Take responsibility for the companys trade book P&L analysis on a daily and monthly basis identifying areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
• Customer order maintenance: Maintain customer order books ensuring accurate recordkeeping and effective communication with the trade department and management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Finance Economics or related field.
• Previous experience in precious metals and FX trading preferably in a sales trading role.
• Strong understanding of financial markets derivatives and trading strategies.
• Proficiency in using electronic trading platforms and financial software.
