Job Description

  1. Student Support:

    • Provide emotional social and academic support to students in Grades PreK5.
    • Conduct oneonone counselling sessions with students to address individual concerns such as anxiety behavior issues family problems or academic struggles.
    • Implement strategies to promote positive behavior and social skills development.
    • Collaborate with teachers parents and administrators to identify and address student needs.
    • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students strengths and areas for growth.
  2. Crisis Intervention:

    • Respond promptly to crisis situations involving students including but not limited to emotional distress behavioral issues or family emergencies.
    • Provide immediate support and intervention to students in crisis and coordinate with appropriate school personnel and external resources as needed.
    • Develop crisis management plans and procedures in collaboration with school administration.
  3. Advocacy and Guidance:

    • Serve as an advocate for students ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are addressed.
    • Provide guidance to students on personal social and academic matters including goal setting decision making and conflict resolution.
    • Facilitate small group counseling sessions on topics such as friendship selfesteem coping skills and stress management.
    • Offer workshops or presentations to students parents and staff on relevant topics related to student wellbeing and development.
  4. Collaboration and Consultation:

    • Collaborate with teachers to implement strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs and behavioral challenges.
    • Consult with parents/guardians to provide guidance and support on parenting strategies referrals to outside resources and strategies for supporting their childs social and emotional development.
    • Work closely with the schools leadership team and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive school environment.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions assessments and interventions.
    • Prepare reports on student progress including observations recommendations and followup plans.
    • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards regarding confidentiality and student records.


Requirements

  • Masters degree in Counselling Psychology Social Work or related field.
  • Previous experience of minimum 2 years working with children or adolescents in a counselling or educational setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and philosophy desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with students parents teachers and administrators.
  • Understanding of developmental stages and needs of children in Grades PreK5.
  • Commitment to diversity equity and inclusion in education.
  • Certification or licensure in school counselling or related field preferred.
