Job Title : School Speech Language Pathologist
Start Date: August 2024 May 2025
Work Hours: Full time hours; up to 37.5 Hrs.
Caseload: less than 50 K12th Grade School Students
The Speech Language Pathologist supports the improvement of instruction for scholars identified with speech and language impairments through screenings evaluations and assessments progress monitoring and implementation of services and therapy needs for scholars; equip staff with tools and strategies to support scholars in the classroom; works collaboratively to ensure scholar success; and demonstrates efforts in supporting teachers and staff in the use of best practices in supporting scholars with speechlanguage impairments.
The purpose of this placement is to provide evaluations and interventions (consult or direct) needed to enhance a scholar s level of communicative functioning and abilities for them to participate in the school environment.
Essential Job Functions
Participates in developing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) including measurable goals and objectives evaluation and progress monitoring for each scholar s needs as applicable to the educational setting.
Recognizes overt indicators of scholar s distress or abuse and takes appropriate intervention referral or reporting action concerning services.
Identifies and selects appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic materials and equipment for speech and language services
Establishes and maintains effective and efficient documentation for caseload.
Establishes and maintains a positive organized and safe environment for scholars.
Conducts comprehensive evaluations and completes progress reports maintains confidentiality for services
Provides therapeutic intervention (direct or indirect) and/or consultation for Speech and Language Communication
Consult with interventionists families and other professionals to provide instructions and therapy techniques that generalize across other daily activities which will affect scholar academic performance.

Conduct training sessions for staff to increase awareness and intervention fidelity that promotes and supports professional growth.
Keeps well informed about current trends and best practices in Speech Language Pathology.
Complies with Federal regulations and TN state policies procedures and programs.
Supports school and District priorities and ensures that scholar growth/achievement is continuous and appropriate for age groups and scholar program classification.
Establishes and maintains a positive collaborative relationship with scholars families to increase scholar achievement.
Plan of Care Process
Develops and implements a Plan of Care for Medicaid eligible Speech Language Impaired scholars which may include specific instructions to scholars parents teachers and other professionals on the interdisciplinary team
Verifies scholars Medicaid eligibility and maintains accurate daily records and data collection to document scholars progress.
Knowledge Skills And Abilities
Requires professional knowledge of the theories terminology principles and techniques of Speech Language Pathology practices in pediatric adolescent and young adult growth and development neurological disabilities behavioral management and psychosocial aspects of children with mental and physical disabilities.
Requires the ability to consult and communicate effectively both orally and in writing with parents scholars teachers and colleagues.
Requires the ability to organize and prioritize therapy activities and program related paperwork.
Requires the ability to perform professionallevel work dealing with data people and technology that relates to technical scientific or legal skills.
Requires the ability to make professional and ethical decisions that impact how the school teams (MDSC STeams RTI IEP Meetings etc.) provide services and support scholars.
Uses standardized instruments clinical judgment and teacherparent input to screen evaluate and reassess scholars needs (consult with SLI Resource Specialist
Master s Degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited educational institution.
Certificate of Clinical Competence preferred or eligible. CFYs will be provided a Supervisor
Possess Certificate to practice Speech Language Pathology. License Reimbursement
One (1) year of experience in an educational setting is preferred.
