Certifications: American Board of Radiology (ABR) certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics or the American Board of Medical Physics equivalent in Radiation Therapy Physics Additional certification in nuclear medicine preferred
Required Education: Masters Doctorate or PhD :
Education:
Has earned a masters or doctoral degree in physics medical physics biophysics radiological physics medical health physics or equivalent disciplines from an accredited college or university; and
Is working towards or has been granted certification in the specific subfield(s) of medical physics with its associated medical health physics aspects by an appropriate national certifying body and abides by the certifying bodys requirements for continuing education. The following national certifying bodies have been deemed appropriate:
1. The American Board of Radiology; or
2. The American Board of Medical Physics; or
3. The Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine.
Minimum experience: A minimum of five years prior clinical experience as a hospital medical physicist or radiation physicist preferred.
EMR: Epic REQUIRED
Experience with Aria Eclipse and Truebeam REQUIRED

Must be able to serve as a Radiation Safety Officer.
Must meet eligibility standards to sit for Part 1 of the Medical Physicist certification through American Board of Radiology.
Job Duties:
Directs the activities of medical physics in partnership with the oncology medical physicist department related to Imaging Services for the Aspirus System.
Conducts and oversees acceptance testing equipment performance evaluation and quality control of imaging equipment across the Aspirus enterprise system as directed.
Assists with imaging equipment accreditation programs across the enterprise system as requested.
Participates in the selection process for new imaging equipment (as appropriate).
Provides calculations for shielding design of diagnostic xray CT and nuclear medicine rooms and provides onsite shielding evaluations as necessary.
Holds the role as the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and manages the license for the use of radioactive material at Aspirus Wausau and Medford Hospitals. Manages the Radiation Safety Program and Chairs the Radiation Safety Committees for both locations.
Participates in new technology assessment and evaluation of new technology for imaging and radiation safety.
Assists in systemwide education regarding radiation safety.
Is accountable for compliance with all regulatory standards related to quality control medical physics testing and radiation safety.
Actively participates in efforts to ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards.
Performs medical physics and radiation safety consulting for other regional health care providers as approved by the Aspirus management.
Available as resource to all Aspirus staff and patients regarding medical physics questions.
Indepth knowledge and practical experience in the operation calibration and maintenance of diagnostic imaging equipment including Xray CT and fluoroscopy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
GSA hours are not guaranteed the week of Orientation. Traveler is guaranteed set hours per week except during holidays where unit is closed.
