Title: Sr. Systems Engineer

Location: Denver Remote supporting 8am 5pm MST is preferred

Duration: 6 months

Rate: $7075 is the target

Customer has a small DC in Denver and they are pushing to have everything in the cloud by Sept. This is a Lift & Shift from VMware to AWS. They have 3 engineers that manage this (along with a handful of Cloud specific resources too) and 2 of them are going on a 4 month paternity leave hence the need for this resource.

The key pieces they need to have would be experience moving from VMware to AWS and ideally some Ansible experience as they are working to automate a lot of tasks. They will be handling the daytoday as well with ServiceNow being their ticking system.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Zealously promote our Customer Centric approach: working to be a part of our customers solutions
• Perform systems administration planning implementation backup recovery and tuning for systems and services that support the global operations of Alteryx
• Coordinate system changes with vendors and other teams developing testing evaluating and installing enhancements
• Perform research planning scoping and implementation of new infrastructure and support for ongoing projects for Public Cloud and VMware environments
• Coordinate work with other IT Systems team professionals
• Identify opportunities for automation and implement processes on systems to address those opportunities
• Provide Linux and Windows server installation administration and maintenance as needed
• Create and maintain detailed and complete system documentation
• Assist with system monitoring reviewing logs and verifying completion of scheduled tasks
• Handle service requests and tickets submitted resolving reassigning / escalating as needed
• Support 24x7 operations environment with up to 10% travel (ability to support offhours weekends and holidays as needed)
• Participation in oncall rotation

Qualifications:

• Experience working in an Agile / Scrum team (preferably with Jira & Confluence)
• The ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and remain calm under pressure
• 5 Years of Systems admin experience including Microsoft technologies and operating systems Linux/Unix operating systems
• 5 Years of VMWare/Cloud experience including the following:
• System Lifecycle: Installation Updates / Upgrades and Retirement
• CLI administration experience
• Creation implementation maintenance of templates / gold master images
• Provisioning appropriate resources to systems
• Load Balancing
  • vMotion/Migrating VMs (HostHost or CloudCloud)
  • vSphere Host Profiles
  • Permissions
• 5 Years of Backup and DR Experience
• Understanding of protocols/technologies like HTTP SSL/TLS LDAP SQL and Git
• Experience with systems management / services administration using Active Directory Azure AD etc.
• Practical knowledge of Change Management processes (using ServiceNow is a plus)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple overlapping projects
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Experience working with developers and engineers to resolve incidents
• A passion for learning and working with new and upcoming technologies
• Demonstrated Customer Service & Troubleshooting skills
• Desired Scripting & Automation Language Knowledge: PowerShell Ansible Terraform Packer Python etc.
• Experience with Containerization and Cloud Technologies a plus
• A strong desire to work with new and emerging technologies
