The Summer Camp Counselor's primary responsibility is to assist the Recreational Counselor in implementing activities during the summer (June-Mid August) for students according to the established summer recreational program of LeafSpring School. In addition, the Summer Camp Counselor helps plan activities and curriculum and assists with the general daily supervision of an assigned group of approximately ten to fifteen children between the ages of five and thirteen.
Responsibilities: - Assists with the daily recreation program's planning, implementation, and supervision in accordance with the philosophy LeafSpring School.
- Incorporates age-appropriate child growth and development principles and developmentally appropriate practice in implementing daily activity plans.
- Assists in evaluating the quality of program components as assigned and executes plans for improvement as needed.
- Appropriately modifies activities to meet the needs of each child’s interests, challenges, unique talents, individual style, and pace of learning.
- Maintains awareness of each child’s health status.
- Demonstrates correct principles of infection control, universal precautions, and OSHA.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, attractive, and clean learning environment.
- Encourages and demonstrates sound health and nutritional practices.
- Assists in planning, developing, and implementing recreationally based and developmentally appropriate field trips and in-house experiences, as requested.
- Assists with implementing and achieving program goals.
- Maintains compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and LeafSpring School brand policies.
Requirements: - Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience working with children (Preferred)
- Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers.
- Must have technology competency as it relates to the responsibilities of the position.
- Must be CPR and First Aid certified or obtain certification within six months of employment.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of up to 50 lbs.
Pay: $15.00 hourly
Working Hours: Full-time and Part-time positions are available!
