Country Manager

Our Client is operating a digital sportsbook license in South Africa under the Western Cape Gambling Board and we are looking to recruit an experienced ambitious and energetic Country Manager to drive growth in the South African market.

As the Country Manager your primary objective is to develop and execute strategic plans to maximise revenue market share and profitability while ensuring compliance with local regulations and maintaining a positive brand reputation. Ultimately you will lead and coordinate various aspects of the South African operation.

The Country Manager South Africa will be responsible for working with the local management team and our clients external technology partners as well as our management team within our clients organisation. You will represent our client in the jurisdiction taking full regulatory marketing operational and P&L responsibility for the South African business.

Location: Hybrid / Remote Cape Town

Reporting To: Chief Commercial Officer

Responsibilities:

  • Full P & L responsibility for the entire South African digital business including regular communication and reporting on business performance against target KPIs.
  • Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer you will manage and be responsible for all daytoday activities of the digital business
  • Working closely with the existing management team in Ireland and Gibraltar to develop the strategic direction of the business and execute it successfully.
  • Define and implement detailed marketing plans to target the South African market and take ownership of the acquisition marketing strategy and business performance for SA across core product verticals: sportsbook and casino.
  • Overall responsibility for customer experience service levels and satisfaction in the market and the direction for local product development.
  • Liaising positively with external parties that are central to and underpin the business in the jurisdiction using communication skills to get the best from the relationship.
  • Work closely with the Business Intelligence function to analyse business performance and proactively react to results.
  • Communicate as needed to key departments within the business or partners that provide these departmental activities Customer Service Compliance Marketing Content Design Product and Payments departments.
  • Develop and execute campaign plan including campaign briefing defining customer target segments brainstorming with writers and designers and signing off assets and marketing material.
  • Maintain brand integrity for the company and protect this across all channels of operation as well as driving the brand campaign planning process contributing with campaign ideas marketing briefs and campaign review deliverables with the South African market.
  • Drive the product and content localisation to ensure suitability for the local marketplace and to maximise the positive impact with customers.
  • Act decisively but collaboratively on critical business issues and communicate those decisions clearly to all stakeholders and execute.
  • In conjunction with relevant stakeholders take responsibility for and ensure adherence to all regulatory and governance responsibilities across all jurisdictions for all business components.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the SA market making recommendations to the business to ensure the establishment of the business in the geo and the roadmap towards the implementation of a marketleading proposition.
  • Where relevant represent our Client at regulatory meetings external partner gatherings and relevant trade shows.

Management of Team

  • Manage supervise and direct internal and external teams and resources.
  • Develop the local team with regard to performance appraisal and team development.
  • Build and lead a highperforming team providing clear direction guidance and support to achieve business objectives.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to motivate and retain talent.

Requirements:

    • A keen knowledge of the Commercial Operational Regulatory and Compliance environment in South Africa.
    • A strong desire to drive the commercial growth and strategic plans of the South African business.
    • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal in English.
    • Have held a senior commercial operations and P&L leadership role in South Africas gambling sector for 3 years.
    • Ability to build rapport and get the best out of external partners intrinsic to the success of the South African business.
    • Budget management proficiency with analytical skills to assess marketing opportunities and forecast and identify trends.
    • Strong presentation skills and ability to convey strategic plans across different levels of the organisation.
    • Experience of working with external thirdparty suppliers is preferable.
    • Experience of working within a global company and matrix organisation is preferable.
    • Strong negotiation and relationshipbuilding skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • High level of attention to detail and organisational skills.
