Job Description

Water Hygiene Technician

Job Opportunity Water Hygiene Technician living in or near to North London

Our Client is one of the UKs leading consultancies for expert water energy and sustainability solutions and provides a unique range of services to ensure their clients deliver health and safety compliance and environmental excellence throughout their organisation including legionella assessment and control

This job opportunity offers the potential to join their talented and passionate team of expert engineers and service technicians who are extremely experienced consulting engineers with many years of industry knowledge between them and be part of the team that delivers in the most sustainable transparent and environmentally responsible way possible helping their clients to do the same

On offer is a salary of up to per year plus overtime company van mobile phone tablet pension scheme days holiday plus all bank holidays and career progression Please note this job does require staying away to nights a week

The Water Hygiene Technician will

Be responsible for helping the company deliver all services in connection with water management and legionella control ensuring that both the company and its clients are fully compliant with current legislative requirements

As the Water Hygiene Technician you will be responsible for the effective management and implementation of the following water management and energy services which will include

  • Providing technical advice and guidance to team members and site operatives in relation to current legionella and water hygiene legislation
  • Providing health and safety advice and training to employees related to the provision of respective services
  • Providing legionella awareness training to clients
  • Obtaining and providing quotations and tender for small remedial and other works
  • Implementing effective control works of domestic water services and cooling towers
  • Managing and supervising control of heating and chilled water closed system analysis
  • Producing reports populating and programming records for buildings
  • Specifying and project managing legionella and water services remedial works
  • Maintaining and validating site records for required maintenance activities
  • Always complying with the requirements of the Legionella Control Association
  • Undertaking plumbing works and tasks defined in HSG Part
  • As required coordinating and supervising in house and on site contractor activities with other ongoing site activities
Other key things to note

As a person you will need to be able to work well within a team led environment as well as being able to work well on your own initiative with limited supervision who can build and maintain relationships with clients at all levels and be clean tidy and honest

It is expected that all team members keep abreast of any legislative changes and implement any change in working practices into their daily operations Be happy to work away from home to days a week

Training will be provided to ensure that you are able to meet the expectations of this job opportunity but please note that anyone who leaves within months of a training course will have the cost of the course reclaimed from their salary



RequirementsTo be considered as the Water Hygiene Technician you will need the following skills and experience
Essential to have
  • To be computer literate and used to using major software (Word Excel etc)
  • Good interpersonal communication management and organisational skills
  • A thorough knowledge of current legislation and guidance on the control of legionella bacteria and water quality
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of current and future environmental legislation
  • A thorough knowledge of HSEs ACOP L
  • A good understanding of the requirements of the Legionella Control Association Membership
  • Awareness of Health & Safety issues and the need for safe methods of working
  • A full UK driving licence
  • The ability to exercise initiative and prioritise duties accordingly
  • The ability to work to a high standard against agreed timescales with limited supervision
  • The willingness and be happy to work away from home during the working week

Desirable to have would be experience / knowledge including

  • Chemical and biological water sampling with an understanding of basic water chemistry
  • How to undertake and manage the operation of evaporative cooling towers
  • Evaluating water chemistry with cooling towers and closed systems
  • Carrying out closed systems water analysis and chemical treatment
  • Working in a similar environment where reliance is placed upon individuals carrying responsibility for their actions
  • An understanding of the role of support services with experience of working in an environment in support of the main business function
  • Asbestos Awareness training
  • Confined space working training
  • Using CAD format software (eg Visio) to produce legionella schematics

As you would expect the following Qualifications are needed (full training will be provided by the company)

Essential

  • City and Guilds Level in Plumbing (Or Equivalent)

Desired

  • Attendance and achievement on a recognised training course such as City & Guilds on Evaporative Cooling Tower Operations Management Risk Assessment
  • CSCS card or equivalent
  • Successful attendance on a recognised training course such as City and Guilds BS or WMS risk assessment or equivalent
  • Confined space working training
  • Asbestos Awareness
