Job Description:

SQL SME The SQL Server SME will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of enterprise applications. This is a "hands-on" position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and sustainment of the SQL Server databases, ensuring operational readiness (security, health, and performance), executing data loads, and performing data modeling in support of multiple development teams. Candidate must also be able to develop SQL reports as needed. Must be capable of working independently and collaboratively.

Schedule & Work Location:

M-F 9-5 or as needed for escalations.

This role will initially be remote but may require onsite visits at various locations in the NYC area in the future.

Role Responsibilities:

Data Team (DB Support and Dev) (On Prem/IaaS/PaaS), SQL Server - Engine, SSRS, SSIS.

i. Monitor and Manage Database Servers

ii. Review and interpret ongoing business report requirements.

iii. Develop and deploy SQL reports as defined by architects and customers.

iv. Work on Health Assessment review and remediation.

v. Support Application Database Deployments

vi. Collaborate with Application Support, Infrastructure, Testing and Development teams for any Database Projects

vii. Manage Database Failover Support including managing and maintaining with infrastructure team high availability and disaster recovery.

viii. Manage Database backups and Availability.

ix. Integrate with infrastructure team for Patching and DB CU updates on regular basis.

x. Develop, implement, and optimize stored procedures and functions using T-SQL

xi. Research required data.

xii. Build appropriate and useful reporting deliverables.

xiii. Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements.

xiv. Suggest new queries.

xv. Develop procedures and scripts for data migration.

xvi. Lead SQL Server Upgrade and Migration Projects

xvii. Security Management /DB Servers

xviii. On call Production Support (24/7)

xix. Support Problem Tickets and Change Requests

xx. Work closely with Infra Architects and Cross Domain architects on regular basis on Standardization and SQL Server, Opensource current and future products

Requirements and Experience:

10+ years of relevant experience with SQL Server 2012 and Above, Windows Server 2012 and Above

Experience with managing large databases > 5-10 TB in size.

Excellent understanding of T-SQL programming

Strong Hands on experience on SQL Server Always on & FCI, Disaster Recovery , and Windows Failover Clustering for SQL Workloads.

Strong experience with database performing factors, monitoring tools, and tuning procedures

Strong experience with Database Administration tasks such as index creation and management, integrity checks, configuration, patching, and statistics

Desirable skills: Managing MariaDB, Influx DB on Linux Platform
