The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Arts Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) is recruiting for the Fall 2023 semester within the Interior Design program. The program is specifically looking for an instructor to teach once course as follows: Position Responsibilities: The course provides an exploration into the fundamentals of furniture design, with a spotlight on seating and upholstery techniques. Students will learn the economics related to the industry, engage in hands-on techniques, and merge aesthetics with functionality. Emphasis is placed on material selection, ergonomics, and texture integration. By the course's conclusion, students will conceptualize and produce a unique furniture project, bridging historical knowledge with contemporary design practices. Please note that we cannot guarantee the availability of adjunct vacancies from semester to semester. However, we invite qualified applicants who are willing to accept part-time teaching work on an as-needed basis to apply. Required Qualifications: • A BFA degree in interior design or allied disciplines, i.e., architecture. • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as an employee at VCUQatar.
