The Role of the Lead Scout France / Belgium

Main Accountabilities

The main responsibility of the France / Belgium lead scout is to help identify and assess players from all levels in France / Belgium. To assist Brentford FC in identifying and recruiting undervalued players faster and more effectively than our competitors. The role covers the recruitment of players for the First Team and B Team squads.

Role Specific Accountabilities

  • To Master your area / region in France/Belgium building a superior knowledge base of suitable players from all levels specifically but not limited to France levels 1,2 and Belgium levels 1,2. Plus international teams from each nation.
  • To develop a close relationship with the Technical Western European lead, Chief scout and Head of Technical scouting.
  • Attend regular meetings with agents, communicate regularly with agents at the request of the Technical Director, Head of Technical Scouting or Chief Scout.
  • upload any relevant information on players onto the clubs recruitment system.
  • Recommend best, suitable players from your area / region on a regular basis to the TD, CS, HoTS as per the recruitment department processes / structures.
  • Create, develop and maintain an effective network of contacts in football, both with Clubs and Agents, and ensure that the Club has access to that network.
  • Identify players within your chosen age category/regions using all available tools and techniques, including the use of data and statistical models as appropriate working closely with the CS, HoTS and the recruitment team.
  • Ensure that all video and live player assessments are uploaded to the recruitment system within 48 hours of the game.
  • Attend live fixtures and complete video assessments at the request of the Technical Director and CS, HoTS
  • To assist with the club s video sharing procedures.
  • To carry out any other relevant recruitment work as instructed by the Technical Director, CS, HoTS.
  • To attend regular recruitment meetings.

    Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics

    • Ability to attend live games and pick out the best most suitable players for a football club s criteria
    • Experience of using relevant football scouting data platforms. WyScout, and InStat.
    • IT literate, competent in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • Organized, structured, and process driven.
    • Experience / knowledge of working within a professional football club scouting department at 1st team level.
    • Multilingual in addition to English, being capable of speaking French.
    • Based in France or Belgium.
    • Editing / Clipping of video footage using platforms such as WyScout; InStat; iMovie; Windows Video Editor.

    General Club Accountabilities

    • To comply with all Club policies, including health and safety, data regulations and other legal, ethical and social requirements.
    • To build and maintain good working relationships while maintaining a professional image.
    • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel.
    • To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times.
